The TAB Wrapper Tornado orbital wrapping system has helped people reduce their worker’s comp claims to zero while supporting a culture of safety throughout the operation. These new Safety Scanners, available as an option on every TAB Wrapper Tornado model wrapper, improve safety in the workplace by yet another order of magnitude.

The Safety Scanners set proprietary sensor technology on both the front and the back of the orbital wrapping machine that emits an invisible field in a 180-degree arc. If someone enters the invisible field, the Safety Scanners recognize the profile of a person, automatically shut down the wrapping process, and flash the red status light. When the coast is clear and the situation resolved, the operator simply resets the status on the touch-screen controls and wrapping may safely resume. The Safety Scanners also recognize the profiles of a forklift, pallet jack and similar industrial equipment and allow them to enter the field for wrapping without triggering the alarm.

This automated system was developed especially for facilities with bustling forklift traffic and/or tight floorplans where extra attention may be needed to help workers stay alert and avoid contact with the wrapping machine. It’s a redundant safety feature offered as an extra layer of protection for extra peace of mind.
